Nepal edge Afghanistan 1-0 in Saff U-16 Championship

Nepal advanced to the Saff U-16 Championship semi-finals as Group ‘B’ winners after a 1-0 win over Afghanistan in Sylhet, Bangladesh on Friday.
In the match between the already qualified teams, Kshitiz Raj GT  scored the winner two minutes into the second half. Nepal had defeated  Maldives 5-0 in their first match on Monday and they were assured of the  last four berth after Afghanistan also beat Maldives 4-2 on Wednesday.
Nepal will now play the Group ‘A’ runners up India on August 16.  Bangladesh, who stunned the defending champions 2-1 on Thursday, will meet  Group A runners up Afghanistan in the early match the same day.
Previous two editions of the tournament was held in Nepal, with the hosts finishing third in 2011 and second in 2013 after losing to India 1-0 in final.
